As part of our on-going workshop series for emerging artists, we are pleased to present
The Business of Being an Artist
Sunday, February 28 1-4pm
This workshop will illuminate the business aspects of finding work in theatre and the various means artists can use to promote themselves. If you are an actor, director, designer, or stage manager then this workshop is for you!
Acclaimed Theatre Director Ann Hodges (who has a long list of credits with RMTC, Manitoba Opera, PTE…) will share the inside scoop on what a theatre artist can do to put their best foot forward. She will cover the attributes of successful resumes and headshots. Plus, she will share her expertise on the types of networking, self-promotion, and professional etiquette that help artists find work in the theatre.
Andrea del Campo (Founding member of Outside Joke, working actor, and Social Media for Theatre Projects Manitoba) presents on harnessing the power of social media to promote your work. She will share what she’s learned about how to ‘brand’ yourself successfully on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. She’ll answer those tricky questions about scheduling and timing in order to help you create posts that grab maximum attention!
As if that wasn’t enough, we will also welcome a professional expert from the Women’s Enterprise Centre of Manitoba who will tackle the business perspective of marketing yourself. How do you balance being an artist with the reality that you are also managing your career as a professional?
