We are hiring two summer students through the Canada Summer Jobs Program. The individuals must be youth (under 30 years of age). Both positions are 30 hours a week for the full summer. We are particularly interested in candidates who would like to continue part-time in the fall; the wage is $11.65/hour. Below are descriptions of the positions.
This individual will assist in the management of theatrical production elements for Sarasvàti Productions. In particular: production and coordination work towards the world premiere of a new play as part of a larger reconciliation project; preparation for FemFest (our annual festival); and assisting in the coordination of youth-based workshops. Tasks will include: liaising with production team, artists and presenting companies; designing production schedules and coordinating production meetings; recruiting and scheduling volunteers; handling administrative tasks to coordinate production elements for performances, the festival, community outreach and workshops. Strong communication, organizational, coordination and computer skills required. Theatre experience is a definite asset.
Marketing and Community Outreach Assistant
This individual will assist in the marketing and outreach work of Sarasvàti Productions, with a particular focus on FemFest, the community-based elements of a new project working with Indigenous youth, and skill-based arts workshops. The position will require communicating with the media, partner organizations, targeted audience groups, schools, community organizations, and advertising outlets to pursue promotional opportunities. This will include francophone organizations and media. Tasks include coordinating promotional pieces with graphic designers, presenters, and performing artists in order to take advantage of all marketing angles. They will create promotional materials, undertake snail mail and e-mail campaigns, manage website updates, develop a social media plan, as well as book group performances. Strong organizational, communication and computer skills are required with particular familiarity in Photoshop, In Design, Microsoft Publisher and Excel databases, as well as with social media. Experience in marketing and/or development is an asset.
