Launching Identity

Sarasvàti Productions will blow you away with its 12th theatrical season in Winnipeg exploring the theme of Identity! Join us on August 21st at 10 am at the Asper Centre for Theatre and Film (University of Winnipeg, 400 Colony Street). The event will include a sneak peek of the unique and exciting performances that Sarasvàti Productions will undertake for our 2012-2013 season. Complimentary refreshments are generously donated by Cake-ology and Diversity Foods!

Launching Identity will commemorate our 10th year of FemFest, Winnipeg’s annual theatre festival of plays by women for everyone! FemFest continues to be the only festival in Canada dedicated to showcasing the diversity of women’s voices in Canadian theatre. With 8 days of events including plays, readings, cabaret evenings, lectures and skill-building workshops, FemFest 2012: Staging Identity offers something for everyone.

This is just one example of how Sarasvàti Productions continues to use theatre to create positive social change in the community. This year Sarasvàti Productions will be presenting a variety of works that will examine a number of issues that affect the lives of marginalized communities, including food banks, youth gangs and gun violence, women offenders and wild women. We’ve never shied away from controversial issues and our 2012/2013 season is no exception.

Join us for great entertainment, food and a chance to win FemFest swag! Stay tuned to the website for details on the season post-launch.
