Into the Light – 2019/20 Season

On Friday, August 2nd Sarasvàti Productions launched its 19th theatrical season in Winnipeg for a full crowd at The Saddlery on Market. A big thank you to all the artists who shared their work, supporters who came out, The Saddlery, and sponsor Oh Doughnuts. Our upcoming season is titled Into the Light. The exciting line-up includes work that takes theatre out of the darkness, with work in unique spaces.

Highlights of Sarasvàti Productions’ 2019/20 theatrical season include:

FemFest 2019: All the World’s a Stage – FemFest celebrates 17 years with a focus on life-changing theatre for everyone.. Dogs, money, a family dinner, and so much more on stage. Sarasvàti Productions is thrilled to announce the seventeenth annual festival of life-changing theatre for everyone. FemFest takes place from September 14-21, 2019. The festival will showcase talent from across the country, as well as celebrate local playwrights and emerging talent.

International Women’s Week Cabaret of Monologues will run from March 2-8, 2020. Stay tuned for more information on this year’s theme. A Call for Submissions has gone out for monologues and performance pieces, which will be performed in various community venues.

Reconciliation Through Theatre Project – Sarasvàti will premiere a brand new performance work as the culmination to a two-year reconciliation project. From June to November of 2019, arts-based workshops will be held at 7 organizations working with Indigenous youth. The artwork, stories, themes, and ideas from these youth will be brought together in collaboration with a team of Indigenous artists in a massive outdoor performance at the Forks in May 2020.

In addition we will continue to host unique fundraising events as well as a series of workshops to support emerging artists.

In nineteen years in Winnipeg, Sarasvàti Productions has established itself as a mainstay in the independent theatre scene with its unique approach to transformative art. With a mandate to use theatre to increase human understanding, the company has had a profound impact on audiences.
