As we reach the end of 2018, we reflect back on all the wonderful things this year has brought.
We hosted our annual International Women’s Week Cabaret of Monologues with the theme I Am Unstoppable, which toured throughout Manitoba.
May of this year saw the world premiere of New Beginnings, which was the culmination of two years of gathering stories from immigrants and refugees about their experiences resettling in Canada.
FemFest entered its 16th year bringing life-changing theatre for everyone. We had touring shows from Toronto to Morocco, had an in-house co-production combining theatre and classic Indian dance, and hosted our first downtown walking art tour.
We wrapped up this year of transformative theatre with an interactive high school touring show, Home 2.0, which focused on the experiences of immigrant and refugee youth as part of the larger New Beginnings project. Take a look at the highlights of the tour below, which had over 50 performances for more than 4,700 Manitoba youth:
Up next in our 2018/19 season is our International Women’s Week Cabaret of Monologues: Here I Am! We’ll be featuring an array of performances about embracing identity and coming into one’s own. In addition to touring throughout Manitoba, there will be two community performances on March 9th at 4pm and 8pm. More information on the line-up can be found here.
