It has been an amazing 6 weeks touring Diss by Rex Deverell to schools and community groups. We’ve had a great reaction from audiences and have been honoured that youth have chosen to share their own personal experiences with gang violence. We’ve performed in rural schools and inner-city schools; in both locations students have been able to relate to the peer pressure the main character experiences and his desire to fit in. Over 2,000 youth have seen the show to date and we expect to double that number as we hit 10 more schools in the last couple weeks of the tour.
The play has truly allowed us to inspire dialogue and explore issues that reflect what youth are facing. Despite long days, early mornings, getting stuck in the snow and never knowing what the audience interaction might entail – the cast has been doing an amazing job with the show!
