We need your support! At Sarasvàti Productions, we love creating great art and believe in providing amazing artistic opportunities to our audiences, our artists, and our community. But we can’t do it alone. As we approach the start of rehearsals for this exciting new play, we are launching a campaign to raise $5,000 in donations. Every penny will help to get the show up and running. Donations from companies or individuals who support the show are eligible for a charitable receipt.
Miss N Me is a tour de force by two-time Governor General Award winning playwright Catherine Banks. Three days before her 25th wedding anniversary celebration, Dawna, a hairdresser from a small Nova Scotia town, steals her husband’s plumbing van and heads for New York City to meet the American rapper Missy Elliott. Dawna is obsessed with the rapper’s “out there” lyrics and is determined to deliver her creation, the Liberty M. E., stylin’ hair design to her idol. Although her 17-year-old skateboarder son, Justin, has refused to come out of his room for 77 days, he thinks her trip to NYC is a great idea. But Dawna’s husband, Bob, wants his plumbing van home NOW! The universe and a host of wacky hitch-hiking characters have plans for Dawna as they draw her deeper into her journey of self-discovery.
Miss N Me by Catherine Banks runs from May 21 to May 31, 2015 at the Asper Centre for Theatre and Film (at the University of Winnipeg, 400 Colony Street).
